The Purpose of …
Fill in the blank. This is the space I live in with my therapy clients, my colleagues, my personal life, and myself. How do I inspire others to be their best selves? I think it starts with me. I strive to learn and grow in any opportunity given. This past week, really this expands out to the past year, I have found myself in new leadership roles. Years before this would have meant leading from the front and guiding people into new directions. Now, this past year, it has meant joining from within a group that is looking to shift to a future that has a sustainable purpose.
In order to facilitate a shift the group needs to develop clarity about where they are and where they want to go. I am appreciating the challenge is the same regardless of the organization; individuals react to shifts as threatening to their individual growth. So the shift needs to originate from a space where the individual can appreciate and understand that the growth will improve their experience. This requires proof. Each organization must lead by example, facilitating growth from within the individual practitioner and program and to without as the organization reflects the shifts in its own growth, collaboratively enriching an environment to attract new members and foster the current membership. My clinical experience and team-building expertise are really coming into play.
I think learning lands differently with visuals. Yesterday we enjoyed this beautiful exhibit of fossils and gems. I was struck by the beauty of these “old things.” The beauty comes from the uniqueness of each piece. How we, as the observers, identified their perceived purpose and the overall experience. I shared a video of this exhibit in my story. The sound is amazing because of the larger space, the exhibit items and our ability to engage different senses to absorb the experience. Showing the power of allowing all elements to shine both individually and together. It takes a vision to create the space and a willing participant to give it meaning.
As you go and experience your life today, I challenge you to consider if you are sharing your gifts with healthy constructs in place or are you guarding them, defending with energy that blocks connections…
